Lovely dinner

Really nice atmosphere and overall a great place to sit and relax. The food and service are generally good, although not always as consistent as you’d expect for the pricing. It does feel quite overpriced overall, but the atmosphere definitely adds to the experience.

This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Pretoria. We went for dinner for our anniversary. The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere is lovely and having many of the dishes flamed at your table really is a great touch- it adds a bit of theatre. The food was exceptional and they have a great selection of drinks. We had the dynamite shrimp and rock shrimp tempura for starters. Both were absolutely delicious! The fantasy sauce is to die for! It does have a bit of a kick, however I have absolutely zero tolerance for hot food and I managed just fine. We both had rump for mains and it was cooked to perfection. If I was really picky my only criticism would be that the knives are a bit tricky to cut with and I would have preferred proper steak knives. Finally, we had the crème brûlée and chocolate brownie for dessert. The food is exceptional and the prices for the quality is very reasonable. As the restaurant was completely full, we did have to wait a while for the food but it didn’t bother us but I would suggest having a bit of patience- the food is worth it. I’ve never seen this restaurant not full, so I would suggest making a booking. Also note that they don’t take on the day bookings over the weekend so be sure to phone in the week if you want to go over the weekend. The menu has a wide variety from incredible sushi, poké bowls and salads, steaks, chicken and fish. There were a lot of children at the restaurant so I’m assuming that the menu is child friendly as well. The castle gate shopping centre also has a little play area for children where they can play.

I visited Fireroom in Castle Gate to celebrate my daughter matriculating and getting accepted into college. I am on a strict no carb, no sodium and fats diet for medical reasons. I called ahead to see if they could accommodate me and they did not hesitate to do so. The service was impeccable from the time we entered till we left.
